The Victoria Victoriette amplifier is quite impressive!

It brings together the warm cleans of a Blackface Deluxe and the punchy dynamics of a Class A British amp without sounding like a direct copy of either.  It's not an easy task to accomplish, but Mark has succeeded in doing so with the Victoriette.  Features like 20 watts of power, classic reverb, tremolo, and a simple treble/bass tone stack, allows the Victoria Victoriette and it's unique voicing to fit in nicely at any number gigs or sessions.

The Victoriette can be ordered with EL84, 6L6, or 6V6 power tubes.  We chose to only stock the 6V6 version because not only do we like it better than the other, but so does Mark at Victoria.

What's the difference in tone and feel between the 6L6, EL84, and 6V6 Victoriette amplifier?

The main difference is in the way the amp acts when driven into clipping. The EL84 will compress sooner and impart a mid rangy sizzle while the 6L6 will have a grainier overdrive with more prominent lower mid content. The 6L6 is fuller, the EL84 is more aggressive/creamy. The clean tones are very similar; all tubes will impart their own vibe, each 6L6 and EL84 type will be individual, but generally the EL84 will be brighter, with less headroom.

Having said THAT, Victoria no longer makes many 6L6 Victoriettes.  They recommend the 6L6 in the bigger (40W) Victorilux, which is the same AB763 circuit as the Victoriette with more wattage in the power section. Victoria feels that the Victoriette is best represented with 6V6′s, which kind of combine the attributes of the 6L6 and the EL84. They distort fairly easily, have a rich lower mid response, and also have a tight singing top end without the sizzle and buzziness of the EL84.  Thus, they have the top end extension of the EL84 and the low end richness of the 6L6, without the buzzy compression of the EL84.  Perfect!  :)
